Secrets to Keep Your Car Looking Like New

New Car

One of the reasons that it is so fun to drive a new car is that it looks great on the outside. The paint job is brand new, and there isn’t a spec of dirt on it. You can tell which car is yours in the parking lot just by looking for the sparkle under the sun. However, dirt quickly builds up and that shine is lost. If you don’t do a good job of maintaining the exterior of your car, you will find that the luster of a new car is never to return. By following the four secrets to keep your car looking like new below, you can feel like you are driving a new car long into the future.

Four Essential Tips for Keeping Your Car Looking Like New

Regularity is Key

There is no substitute for keeping your car on a regular schedule of washing all throughout the year. If you fall behind and let the dirt and grime build up, you might not ever be able to get it all off. Washing the car at least once a month, if not more often, will stop any layers of dirt from developing and make it much easier to get back down to the clean and shiny paint with just a quick wash.

Take the Time to Detail

If you wash the car yourself, don’t skip over the detailing to save time. In order to really have that new look, you will want to get into all the nooks and crannies with a soft towel and hand wash the vehicle clean. Areas behind the side mirrors, in the cracks of the doors, and around the roofline of the car are notorious for getting dirty and holding onto the dirt. It will take you a few extra minutes to hand wash these tricky parts, but it will make all the difference in your finished product.

Use Quality Products

This is the rule that is probably broken the most, and the reason why people don’t get the results they desire. Spending a few extra dollars on premium car soap and wax will be well worth it when you see how great the car looks in the end. Also, premium wax will last much longer than the cheap stuff, protecting your paint job from sun damage and even small chips.

Park Inside

This isn’t actually a washing tip, but it has a great deal to do with how your vehicle looks. Weather, particularly the sun, is hard on cars, and the paint jobs especially. If you park outside day after day, the combination of sun and rain will team up to wear out the looks of your new ride. By keeping the car in a garage whenever possible, you will be protecting the exterior of the vehicle from all of the threats that Mother Nature has to offer.

I’ll agree with the park inside thing, but not everyone has the luxury of having a garage. Renting a carport, parking in the shade of trees, or buying a car cover are other alternatives to protecting a vehicle’s exterior.
